meditative quiet illuminated dress stands alone anywhere i might be.

i'm going to use the blurb site to create a book. thinking about maybe attaching an envelope with dress swatches in it. love the idea of being able to touch the dress viewer is seeing.

I am choosing to do a 12" x 12" book hardcover. I might add some text below photos such as, "She stopped her car, got out and quickly ate an assortment of sugary goods from the local drugstore. This will fill my loud thoughts with quiet, sleepy nothingness."
My artist's statement will be on the 4th page-inside cover being page one....
Artist statement as follows:

I prefer seclusion and solitude. However, the feeling becomes overwhelming in certain times of the day and in certain locations. I want to capture this using the location in which this feeling transpires. The illuminated dress represents a hollowed version of me with anticipation of hope.

  1. The dress came out really nice! I also really like the cover for your book. You probably won't need text with the photos because your artist statement is clear on what you want the photos to say. I think maybe seeing a photo with some text would better help me grasp the idea you are getting at. Keep up the good work!

  2. I think you should make the dress a little bigger but other than that I think this is working for you.

  3. The dress came out beautifully, It'll be great to see it in the different locations you've picked out. I think the front and back cover look good. I like how you're attempting to somewhat mimic the fabric with the pixelated gradient you are using to fill the text.

  4. your locations are cool.

keep toying around with the cover, the black rectangle containing the text visual goes against all of the tall trees. maybe eliminate the box and put the text somewhere else on the cover?

  5. i love back cover. but i am not sure about your front cover. it is really hard to see your clothes behind tree. it will missing the view of reader. i suggest the putting clothes is more front side in order to make people to see easily.

  6. The dress is so pretty!! I like the layout of the cover & the statement is great! I like the locations too, but have you ever taken pics in those locations in the evening right before the sun sets? I think that would really make the dress come to life! Your doing awesome so far & I can't wait to see more! :D

  8. i dont think that the text would be necessary, you should let the images speak for themselves. the new locations you have found are amazing and will convey your idea perfectly. cant wait to see them. i think that a different picture would work better for the title page, something you could incorporate text into better. the dress looks kind of like it was put in digitally. the back cover is good.

  9. The dress turned out really nice! I also really like the new locations that you have scouted. They deffinately give me more of the feeling that I think you are wanting to portray in them. I don't know about adding any text with the pictures though. I think the pictures will be good enough just by themselves.

  11. Some of the photos seem under-developed, like they are too light. Did you do this on purpose to make the scene illuminated?

Having the dress in secluded environments throughout the book will give the viewer a sense of story. I like the new scenes, just don't make the dress too small.

Make a statement! Love the dress!
