meditative quiet illuminated dress stands alone anywhere i might be.

i'm going to use the blurb site to create a book. thinking about maybe attaching an envelope with dress swatches in it. love the idea of being able to touch the dress viewer is seeing.

this is the silk organza fabric i am using. the ''eyelash" fabric on the right is for the godets on the bottom. when minimal trim arrives, i make the dress.

  1. I love the design for the dress. It feels free and flow-y. The locations are amazing, by the way. Maybe try placing the dress in the top left corner or lower right corner of the area.

  2. Looks like your idea is coming along very nicely so far. I like the locations you have chosen and I can't wait to see the dress all finished! I also really liked the idea of attaching an envelope with some of the dress fabric onto the book. I am such a hands on person and I would enjoy something like that.

  6. It appears that you are putting a lot of time and effort into making the dress and that it is coming along nicely. I like the photos you have of the dresses floating in the background. It looks very mysterious, almost as if there is an invisible person walking around.

  9. This idea is really interesting and can be very thought provoking. I think you should think about putting in a shadow of the dress to show where it is appearing and floating.

  10. Fun! I think it would be great to photograph the dress at Starbuck's on Sunday morning or a bar where it is really crowded. A place where lots a people are wondering what you are doing there!

  11. Kyla--this is going to rock.

I agree that I am moved by your physically making the dress (as the sculptor in me loves hand made props) but it also connects you to the work in an undescrible way. I feel like we know things so much more when we make them.

The locations are erie and irresitable. Good EYE!
